Today in the US we celebrate Thanksgiving. It’s origins, we are taught as children, come from a bountiful shared feast.
-
A bountiful shared feast between the colonists and Native Americans, because the colonists were unprepared for the winter.
-
A few years later, colonists turned around and murdered untold numbers of Native Americans. And it went on like this.
-
Native people shared & gave & welcomed, colonists disregarded and murdered. Native people defended themselves, the government slaughtered.
-
And it goes on still. Right now, the people at the camps at Standing Rock are defending the water. They’re trying to do it peacefully.
-
So while you’re giving thanks with your family today, take a moment to support the water protectors. sacredstonecamp.org/faq/#howtohelp
-
The best way is cash. Economists call this a direct transfer, and it’s the most efficient way people who have needs.
