So… TIL the lights in my home are powered by magic.
-
Okay so all the lighting in the rig is DC powered. This evening I hit the breaker for the DC converter and the lights went out. Makes sense.
-
I turned it back on. My partner unplugged the DC converter, which was plugged into the same branch as the breaker. The lights stayed on.
-
Then I hit the breaker that the DC converter was on. The lights stayed on.
-
I literally have no idea where the electricity for the lights is coming from. Absolutely zero.
-
My partner writes about electricity for a living. He also has no idea, beyond magic, where the power for the lights is coming from.
-
He just told me he thinks the RV is a bored sociopath who overheard him say “after this project I can go back to working outside” yesterday.
-
Okay so remember how I said the lights in my rig are powered by magic? I appear to have exhausted my mana supply or something.
-
This afternoon after driving for about 30 minutes, we were waiting to finish check-in at an RV park and the fridge started beeping.
-
Generally, the fridge beeping means we’re out of propane. But upon parking we discovered lights were out too. Ofc—the propane control is DC.
-
So, for some reason? The DC just sorta stopped working mid-drive. Checked the fuses, all intact. Plugged DC converter in, lights are back.
-
Conclusion: sometimes the lights work without the converter ergo sometimes lights are magic ergo we clearly ran out of mana.
