So I’m not really here to shill for my corporate overlords, but yesterday I heard some of the least cringey White CEO talk from a Fortune 500. (The bar is low and Schulman managed not to trip over it) including $530 million toward various “racial justice” initiatives.
-
Err maybe “racial justice” isn’t the right phrasing. More like “capitalism for all” I guess. $10 M avail right now for minority-owned businesses impacted by COVID-19 or New Civil Rights actions. $5 M to a few non-profits experienced in disbursement. reuters.com/article/us-minneapolis-police-paypal/paypal-pledges-over-500-million-to-support-minority-owned-us-businesses-idUSKBN23I20Q

$15 million is just toward internal D&I and they don’t get a fucking cookie for that, it doesn’t even rise to the level of table stakes. Better metaphor is cover charge.
-
The remaining $500 M—if I understand correctly—goes into a fund for investing in BIPOC-owned businesses & venture funds. I kinda feel like they should maybe only get half credit for this? Obviously their goal is gonna be to make the money back, not straight up give it away.

Anyway here’s a link to apply for the grant: aeoworks.org/paypalgrant/ It’s specifically for Black-owned small businesses with 10 employees or fewer. They’re operating on a name-your-price sort of system, you can ask for up to $10k
